Transformers Deck-Building Game: War on Cybertron is a standalone box that lets players command Autobots or Decepticons on their home world. One to four participants explore a card Matrix, improve personal decks and compete or cooperate for control of Cybertron.
Team versus Team supports one-against-one or two-against-two battles, while cooperative and solo modes let one to four players select a faction and face the game together. A session takes about 45 to 90 minutes and the English-language game is recommended for ages 14 and older.
The box contains more than 175 cards. Its component list includes 11 oversized cards, 40 Starter cards, 41 Basic cards, 24 faction cards, Technology and Maneuver cards, Missions, Bosses, Schemes, Allies, Ruins, Encounters, Sites, Relics and Polities, plus tokens, standees, bases, Energon cubes and a rulebook.
Players begin with a ten-card personal deck. Power buys cards or defeats adversaries, Range extends interaction across the Matrix and Move reveals new spaces. Missions and commandable Polities add objectives beyond simply collecting stronger cards, so the battlefield changes as the decks improve.
