Transformers Deck-Building Game: A Rising Darkness is a standalone expansion centered on the Decepticons. One to five players build personal decks while exploring a Matrix of face-down cards, locating useful allies and equipment and confronting Autobot adversaries.
The box supports competitive and cooperative play and runs for about 45 to 90 minutes. Competitive games let the Decepticons compete while facing the Autobots, whereas cooperative players combine their strength. With the core set, additional Team versus Team rules pit Decepticon players against Autobot players.
The contents include 174 standard-size cards, six oversized character cards, ten Encounter cards and five reference cards, plus tokens, Energon cubes, standees and bases listed in the rulebook. The complete game is in English and is recommended for ages 14 and older.
Deck-building means that every player begins with a modest personal deck and acquires stronger cards as the game progresses. New cards first enter the discard pile and become available after reshuffling, so decisions about power, movement and range shape later turns.

About A Rising Darkness
A Rising Darkness reverses the viewpoint of the original Transformers Deck-Building Game by putting the Decepticons in the playable roles. Their rivalry remains important even when they share the immediate objective of defeating the Autobots.
The game uses the conflict between Autobots and Decepticons as more than decoration: character powers, encounters and the explored Matrix determine how each faction develops. As a standalone box it can be played on its own, while compatibility with the core game broadens the available formats.
